Wedge Nut

Wedge Nuts by Asia Bolts Industries are precision-engineered wedge locking fasteners that use a patented cam-action wedge surface to create a mechanically secure, vibration-proof bolted joint — without relying on friction, adhesives, or deformable elements. As the nut is tightened, the wedge-profiled bearing face bites into the mating surface, generating a positive mechanical lock that resists loosening under the most severe vibration, shock loading, dynamic forces, and thermal cycling conditions encountered in oil & gas, rail, heavy machinery, and structural applications.

Manufactured to DIN 25201, ISO 2320, and customer specification in carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, and duplex grades, our Wedge Nuts are produced at our Dubai Investment Park facility under ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 certified quality systems and exported to 70+ countries across the GCC, Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

Wedge Nuts – Wedge Locking Nut Manufacturer & Supplier in UAE

Asia Bolts Industries LLC is a specialist Wedge Nut manufacturer and supplier based in Dubai, UAE, delivering high-performance wedge locking fastener solutions to the oil & gas, petrochemical, rail, heavy machinery, power generation, and structural engineering sectors across the GCC and global markets since 1997. Our Wedge Nuts provide a demonstrably superior mechanical locking performance compared to conventional prevailing torque nuts, spring washers, and adhesive-based locking methods — making them the fastener of choice for critical bolted joints where loosening under vibration or dynamic loading cannot be tolerated.

What Are Wedge Nuts?

Wedge Nuts are locking nuts featuring a specially profiled wedge-shaped bearing face on the underside of the nut. When tightened against a mating surface, the wedge profile creates a cam-action mechanical interlock between the nut bearing face and the joint surface — generating a positive lock that resists rotation in both the loosening and tightening directions under dynamic loading.

Unlike conventional locking methods that rely on:

  • Friction (nylon insert nuts, prevailing torque nuts) — which degrades with reuse and temperature
  • Deformation (crimped nuts, staked nuts) — which prevents reuse
  • Adhesives (thread-locking compounds) — which fail at elevated temperatures and require cure time
  • Spring force (spring washers, Belleville washers) — which can relax under sustained load

Wedge Nuts provide a positive mechanical lock that:

  • Remains effective through repeated assembly and disassembly cycles
  • Performs reliably at elevated temperatures where adhesives and nylon inserts fail
  • Does not rely on friction coefficient consistency for locking performance
  • Passes DIN 65151 (junker vibration test) — the industry-standard vibration resistance test for fasteners

How Wedge Nuts Work

The underside bearing face of a Wedge Nut is machined with a cam-profiled wedge surface. When the nut is tightened:

  1. The wedge face contacts the mating joint surface at the high point of the cam profile
  2. As tightening torque is applied, the cam geometry generates an increasing axial clamping force
  3. Any attempt by the nut to rotate in the loosening direction causes the wedge face to ride up the cam ramp — increasing bolt tension rather than decreasing it
  4. The nut is effectively self-locking under both static and dynamic loading conditions

This cam-action wedge principle means the locking force increases proportionally with any loosening force — making Wedge Nuts the most mechanically reliable locking nut available for severe vibration environments.
